Do you dream of getting away from it all and just curling up somewhere quiet with a good book?
One of our Reading Parties may be just what you're looking for.
Read with no distractions. The Reading Party is a four-night opportunity to relax and read away from the pressures of everyday life - you don't even need to think about cooking; all your meals, snacks and drinks will be provided to keep you fuelled. There's no pressure to mix or take part in activities but it's an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow booklovers.
Accommodation
2026's Reading Parties are taking place at Middle Colenso Farm, Christen's home and holiday cottages near Penzance in west Cornwall. It enjoys a secluded, rural location half way between Penzance and Helston and just a few minutes drive from Prussia Cove, Marazion and the south coast. You'll find the only significant noise comes from the dawn chorus.
The accomodation is decorated in a modern rustic style. Expect to find classic mid-century and Scandinavian furniture and natural materials such as reclaimed wood, slate and linen. There are six bedrooms with a choice of shared or single occupancy.
Communal Space
Each cottage has its own garden area and you will also have access to the library barn as a quiet and peaceful spot to read (also that's where the cake is!). The cottages are nestled in sub-tropical gardens where there are plenty of quiet reading spots as well as a pétanque court and wood-fired sauna. There will be chance to join in with one of Christen's guided Pilates sessions in the gym if the mood takes you.
We will come together at mealtimes in the largest cottage, The Old Granary, and there will be opportunities for group discussion but the rest of the time you'll be free to read, explore or just unwind in your surroundings.
Feel free to bring any books you'd like to share and swap with the rest of the group.
The Great Outdoors
Middle Colenso Farm is located in the far west of Cornwall just a couple of miles from beautiful Prussia Cove and the South West Coast Path. Marazion, Penzance, St Ives and the Land's End Peninsula are all within easy striking distance by car.
There are some lovely walks from the farm and the whole of west Cornwall to explore.
